I'm a n00b... shocking I know
So I get back to sketching and painting right, and I realize that I suck ass 5 ways from Wednesday. Well, ok, maybe I don't suck ass 5 ways, but at least 3. The Maibd was pretty good, but do you know how long that took to sketch and paint? Too long, my friends, too long. And the lines for Malekith are definitely usable and detailed, but it's horrible beyond all reason trying to paint them (who knew 3 colors of metal would be so hard to paint?!). Then there's the Villain Meme... well, let's just say I'm leaving it up as a "grim milestone" to borrow a phrase from CNN.
So I've decided to scrap my current paint projects (bye bye, Malekith... you'll have to wait a while) and start at the ground level to get back into the groove and move towards being able to sketch quickly without it completely sucking. I'll be doing a lot of roughs and reference sheets and stylistic pieces and such.
The bad news in all this? Full and gloriously painted pieces like Matariel Restored and The Maibd will be rare (rare even for my meager output!).
The good news? Well, no one really comes here for those painted pieces it turns out! I have 2000 pageviews and they all seem to be streaming in through my Hand Study, so a bunch more reference sheets and rough pose pieces will probably get me another 1000 hits.
Such is life.
